Atlas Public Policy is looking for a highly qualified senior data analyst to join our exciting policy tech firm. Atlas equips businesses and policymakers to make strategic, informed decisions that serve the public interest. We build analytical tools and dashboards using powerful, accessible technology, and offer expert advisory and convening services to tackle the pressing issues of the day.

A qualified person must be sharp, ambitious, passionate, and capable of adapting to the evolving demands at Atlas. This position is based in Washington, DC following a hybrid work model.

Atlas’s customer base is primarily in the climate policy space, including public agencies from all levels of government, leading climate advocates in the non-profit sector, and top companies working on clean energy technology. Our work includes cutting edge research and development on critical climate-related policy issues, products that equip stakeholders with actionable information on clean energy markets, and strategic advising to key leaders in the climate space.

The Work

  • Lead Atlas’s data team including day-to-day staff management, lead data-focused projects, and drive team’s success.
  • Bring advanced analytics software to a non-technical audience using relational databases, data dashboards, and open-source spreadsheet or software models.
  • Serve as lead architect for Atlas tools built with Microsoft Power BI and Azure suites and open-source software where appropriate.
  • Manage data components of Atlas’s products, including EV and Buildings Hub.
  • Advise policy team on original research and use of data tools.
  • Advance Atlas’s mission by expanding our reach in existing sectors and developing relationships in new areas of public policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field required;
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred;
  • 5-7 years of experience with scripting languages such as Power Query/M, R, and/or Python required;
  • 5-7 years of experience with WordPress or similar content management system required;
  • 5-7 years of work experience in programming, data science, or quantitative research required;
  • 3-5 years of work experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar data visualization/dashboarding software (Tableau or Qlik) required;
  • Passionate interest and experience in using data to solve complex problems;
  • Experience managing a team;
  • Experience in climate and/or energy policy preferred;
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills;
  • Strong interest in realizing Atlas’s mission;
  • Ambitious, self-directed, but knows when to pause and seek assistance; and
  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States or other U.S. work authorization (please specify details in your application. Atlas does not offer sponsorship for permanent residency).
