Eric Wood is a Principal Policy Analyst at Atlas Public Policy, where he leads advanced research, modeling, and policy analysis focused on transportation electrification and energy systems. His work supports governments, utilities, automakers, charging providers, and other stakeholders in addressing emerging challenges related to electric vehicle charging infrastructure, EV-grid integration, and transportation decarbonization. Eric has led the development and application of nationally recognized analytical tools including EVI-Pro and EVI-Pro Lite, which are widely used to estimate electric vehicle charging infrastructure needs and support infrastructure planning efforts across the United States.
Prior to joining Atlas, Eric spent more than 14 years at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where he led high-profile infrastructure analysis efforts for organizations including the U.S. Department of Energy, the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, the California Energy Commission, NYSERDA, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. His work has informed federal and state policy development, utility planning, and national charging infrastructure strategy. Eric has also presented technical insights and modeling results to Senior Staff in the White House, DOE, and DOT. Eric is widely recognized for his expertise in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, transportation energy modeling, real-world fuel economy analysis, and techno-economic assessment. He has authored more than 75 research publications and technical reports related to transportation electrification and advanced vehicle technologies.
He holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
